It seems like it has taken forever, but Spring is finally here! Now that the snow has melted and our “Fever” has subsided, we are all ready to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Spring is notorious for lots of rain, but especially with the harsh winter we had, it is very important to get out and make sure your “rain shields” are working their best for you. Take a look at your roof (either from a ladder or get a pair of binoculars and check it out from the ground) and inspect the condition of the shingles and flashings. Look for loose or missing shingles and for flashing that is pulling away from the siding on your house. If you’re on a ladder, now is a great time to check, inspect, and clean those gutters of any leaves or sticks that can cause clogs in your downspouts.

Trees and shrubs are integral to your landscaping and the overall beauty of the home. However, when trees and shrubs grow close to your home, they can become overgrown and rub against siding and your roof. This can cause premature damage to your home’s finishes and headaches when it comes time to replace those items. Be sure to trim your trees and shrubs away from your house and give them adequate space to grow and move in the wind.
Prep your Air Conditioner
Now is the time to open those windows and let the cool breezes into your home, but before too long, the air will become hot and humid. Don’t wait until you need the air conditioning system to test it and get it ready. Now is the time to call your HVAC service professional to get your A/C unit ready for the summer.
