Fall Tips for Inside Your Home

Now as you head back inside, make sure you think about those things inside to get your interior ready for winter.

Furnace

  • You may not be ready for it yet, but soon you will need to switch from the air conditioning to the furnace, and now is the perfect time to make sure everything is in order to make that switch.  Call your local HVAC service technician to come in and perform any needed service to ensure you won’t be left out in the cold this winter.

Windows

Caulk Your Windows

  • Fall is a great time to check the condition of your windows and the caulking around your windows (inside and out).  If needed, re-caulk around those windows to reduce drafts and seal up your house to improve the efficiency of your furnace.  Check the weather-stripping around your exterior doors as well and replace any that isn’t sealing your doors tight.

Ceiling Fans

Change the direction of your ceiling fans

  • One simple, but often overlooked way to help your furnace efficiency is to change the direction of your ceiling fan. During heating months, the fan should be pulling air up to redistribute the warm air that is against the ceiling.  This means make sure your fan is rotating clockwise.
